About Research Centre

 

Our research centre is full to overflowing with research aids to help you find those elusive family members.

We have a comprehensive Reference Library bursting at the seams with guides, cemetery books and the like.

The Multifunction Room is equipment with a state of the art Digital Film/Fiche Reader Printer, we also have three manual 35mm film readers.

The Multifunction Room now contains our microfiche collection and reader

We have Intranet available on four Dell™ – Windows 7™ computers (C1 to C4) containing a collection from over 400 CD-ROM resources which are divided into the following catagories:

  • Australian Records
  • CCFHS Publications
  • e-Journals
  • Overseas Records
  • each of these titles expand for further ease of access.

    We also provide online subscription sites:

  • Ancestry.com World Wide edition.
  • FindmyPast.co.uk
  • FindmyPast.com.au
  • FindmyPast.ie
  • Origins Network which includes English Scottish and Irish records.
  • British Newspaper Archives [new May 2012]

    In all we have 10 computers with Internet access

    Access to DOS software is still available on two computers in the Reference Library.

    2nd June: Greg de Moore, Tom Wills.
    Dr de Moore is a psychiatrist at Westmead and Blacktown hospitals and a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney.

    His biography Tom Wills: His Spectacular Rise and Tragic Fall was inspired by uncovering an old psychiatric record.

    Dr de Moore recently made headlines by revealing that psychiatric records from the 1960s to the 1990s are being destroyed in NSW
