Beginners Basics with Margaret Ertner

This workshop is not to be confused with the Beginner’s Courses usually conducted by Lynnette Fiddick. This workshop will be an introduction to how to research in our Centre using the resources available.

The Lynnette Fiddick courses will be back in 2013.


Week 1
  • BDM records that are accessible in our Centre and where they can be found.
  • How to find the correct film for Early Church Records i.e. pre 1856 registration prefixed with V.
  • Recording your information on Pedigree Charts and Family Group Sheets.
Week 2
  • Using NSW State Record Guides to find Immigration/convict records
  • Convict Indents on microfiche
  • Immigration -Shipping Reels/microfiche
Week 3
  • Library resources at CCFHS
  • Cemetery transcriptions books in our library
  • Electoral Rolls using Ancestry.com.au
  • Newspapers with particular emphasis on using TROVE.

 


This Beginners Basics will be three consecutive Mondays 5th, 12th and 19th March

* Venue -Multifunction room at the Research Centre
*  Time: 1 pm to 2.30 pm
*  Bookings – are essential accompanied by payment in full.
*  Class Limited to 20 per class

Course Fee $20.00 per member and $25.00 non-members
Course Tutorial will be provided
